CARDET is organizing the Conference “Time for Change: Responsible Supply Chains in Cyprus” in collaboration with the NGO Future World Center and under the auspices of the Ministries of Education and Culture and Foreign Affairs.

The conference will be held in Classic Hotel on the 19th of January 2017 from 8:30 to 14:30 and it will focus on supply chains for metallic raw materials (gold, tin, tungsten, tantalum), tropical fruits (bananas and pineapples) and store brand products and their ingredients (cocoa and palm oil), as some of the more emblematic problematic examples of supply chains and global trade. Two international speakers from Global Witness (UK) and Global 2000 (AU) will present the European legislation and relevant guidelines and MP Dr. Charalambos Theopemptou will provide insides in terms of the local situation in Cyprus, and during the panel discussion and workshop the need for proactive measures and the need of civil society. The conference will be provided for free under the framework Time for change: Promoting sustainable consumption and production of raw materials in the context of EYD 2015 and beyond!

προϊόντων κάτω από την επωνυμία των σουπερμάρκετ (κακάο, φοινικέλαιο), ως κάποια από τα πλέον προβληματικά παραδείγματα αλυσίδων εφοδιασμού του παγκόσμιου συστήματος εμπορίου. Δύο διεθνείς ομιλητές από τους οργανισμούς Global Witness (Η.Β.) και Global 2000 (Αυστρία) διερευνήσουν παγκόσμιες πρακτικές, Ευρωπαϊκές νομοθεσίες και σχετικές οδηγίες, και ο Δρ. Χαράλαμπος Θεοπέμπτου την κατάσταση που επικρατεί στην Κύπρο και κατά τη διάρκεια του διαλόγου την ανάγκη για έγκαιρα μέτρα και το ρόλο των οργανισμών της κοινωνίας των πολιτών.
